Two straight stellar mound performances, and two straight wins via the mercy rule.
The Angelina College Roadrunners earned their second consecutive win in shortened innings with Wednesday's 8-0 win over Navarro College at Poland Stadium on the AC campus.
'Runner starting pitcher Aaron Martinez tossed a beauty of a game, allowing just three Bulldog hits in his eight-inning shutout. Martinez struck out five Bulldogs while issuing just one walk to earn the win on the mound.
Wednesday's win followed Monday's big 9-1 win over San Jacinto College in another 'Runner rout lasting just seven innings.
Brayden Pate doubled twice and drove in a run to lead the offense, while Jorge Arcia-Palma added two RBI with his two-run double in the first inning, when the Roadrunners staked Martinez to a 3-0 lead.
AC tacked on four more runs in the second, getting an RBI double from Seth Sloan, an RBI single from Cole Standley, a Jackson Pullen squeeze bunt to score Standley from third and Pate's second double of the game to plate Marco Bandiero.
Pate was credited with a steal of home in the bottom of the fifth to round out the 'Runner scoring.
The Roadrunners (18-10, 9-7) will resume the series with Navarro College on Saturday in a doubleheader scheduled for a 1 p.m. start in Corsicana.
AC returns home on Monday, March 30 in a non-conference tilt against Dallas College-Richland. The single, nine-inning game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. at Poland Stadium.
