Playing most of the match in a driving rain, AC’s Lady Roadrunners opened the flood gates on the nets in an 8-0 win on Sunday.

Jade Dewbre netted a hat trick just in the first half, adding her fourth goal later in the second. Jerissa Grimes added two goals, and Gabriel Bradford and Stephany Lopez added a goal each.

Dewbre’s first goal came on a breakaway in the 38th minute of the first half. Dewbre swiped a ball from a Lion forward, side-stepped the keeper and put the Lady Roadrunners up 1-0. Minutes later, Dewbre took a perfect cross from Bailey Bowers and headed home her second goal; she earned her third off a pass from Grimes to finish the first half with the hat trick.

Grimes scored her first off a feed from Eva Phillips and assisted on Bradford’s goal in the 21st minute of the first half for a 5-0 AC lead.

Lopez used a move to leap over a Lion defender to score and put the Lady Roadrunners up 6-0 early in the second half. Grimes’ second goal came off a free kick from Olivia Urrutia, who placed the ball perfectly inside the box. After a couple of bounces, Grimes tapped the ball in for a 7-0 lead. Dewbre finished off her big night after Bradford sent a long kick past the Mountain View keeper and found Dewbre alone in front of the net.

The Lady Roadrunners (3-2) will be at Paris College on Friday and Northeast Texas Community College on Saturday before returning home on Sep. 11 against North Lake College.
