Assistant Coach Randy McKelvey in 2018-2019 begins his seventh year with the Lady Roadrunners, having served as a volunteer assistant for three years (2011-2014) previously. A Lufkin native and 1999 graduate of Lufkin High School, McKelvey earned his B.S. in Kinesiology from Stephen F. Austin State University, where he graduated in 2013. He earned his Master of Science degree in Sports Management from Southern New Hampshire University.
During McKelvey’s tenure, he has compiled a 53-40 record, with the Lady Roadrunners reaching the conference tournament in each of his seasons on the bench. He has helped develop seven All-Conference players for the Angelina College women’s basketball team. McKelvey was responsible for recruiting Natasha Mack, named the No. 1 JUCO player in the nation heading into 2018-2019. Mack was named All-American following her freshman season, earning national Player of the Week honors twice and setting single-season program records for scoring, rebounding and blocked shots. Mack also was selected as a participant in the NJCAA All-Star game in Atlanta, where she earned Co-MVP honors for the tournament.
McKelvey and his wife Zephanie have three children: Z’Nya, Randy III and Kobe.
