Still feeling the sting of just their second loss of the entire season, Angelina College’s Lady Roadrunners opened Saturday’s contest with a purpose, exploding for a 21-0 lead to open the game and cruising to an 80-51 win over Coastal Bend Community College at Shands Gymnasium.
AC, ranked No. 8 in the nation, closed the first quarter with a 29-4 lead and never looked back, getting 28 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks from Natasha Mack, 13 points from Taylor Jacob, 12 points and 11 rebounds from Mia Perkins and 10 points from Teeonna Barkley.
AC’s defense forced 30 Lady Cougar turnovers, converting those into 29 points.
Cassie Hogan led CBCC with 21 points. Emiko Hemphill added 11 points.
The Lady Roadrunners (21-2, 10-2) travel to Tyler to take on the Tyler Junior College Lady Apaches at 5:30 p.m.
