The two top-rated pitcher in Region XIV softball faced one another in Tuesday’s second round of the conference tournament, with Blinn’s Meghan Morris – the South Zone Pitcher of the Year – going up against Angelina College’s McKenna Fryar, the East Zone Pitcher of the Year.

Fryar won the matchup, tossing a complete-game shutout in AC’s 5-0 win in the Region XIV Conference Championship tournament at the Larry Phillips Family Sports Complex in Lufkin.

Fryar allowed just four hits in blanking the Bucs, striking out four over her full seven innings of work.

Riley Garrett helped Fryar’s cause with a four-RBI night. Garrett lined a three-run homer over the left-field wall in the third inning and added a RBI double to score Emilee Cernosek in the fifth. Jessica Husband picked up an RBI double in the second inning for AC’s other run.
