SHREVEPORT – Of all the things the Angelina College Roadrunners did well on Thursday, there were two elements of their game most responsible for the team’s eighth straight win:

The ‘Runners continued their trend of shutting teams down with a collective defensive effort. And they completely controlled the game’s tempo.

It all led to a dominant performance in an 87-65 win over Panola College in the Region XIV Conference Tournament quarterfinals at Centenary College in Shreveport.

On nearly every possession, AC ran the shot clock down to the buzzer, getting last-second buckets while keeping the Ponies from getting off and running in their usually potent transition game. The ‘Runners never allowed a big Panola scoring run and used a balanced offensive attack on their own end to advance to the tournament’s next round.

Kevin Norman led the Roadrunners with 18 points and nine rebounds. Deon’ta Lagway added 16 points, eight rebounds and two steals. Hunter Janacek shot his way to a 15-point night, and Draylon Brown pitched in with 13 points.

Josh Williams led the Ponies with 14 points.

AC (18-13) will play the tournament’s No. 1 seed, Navarro College, in semifinal action starting at 6 p.m. on Friday. Viewers can watch via live stream by visiting angelinaathletics.com.
