Not that Angelina College head coach Nick Wade needed any reminders of just how tough the Region XIV basketball conference really is, but just in case, all he needs to do is look at the standings.

AC’s Roadrunners are 1-2 in league play so far this season – with both losses occurring on the road – yet the team is still tied for first in the South Zone, with five other teams sporting identical conference records. The ‘Runners won at home against Paris College this past Saturday, but fell on the road at Navarro College Wednesday night.

AC now will look to close out the semester on a high note on Friday, with Lone Star College-Tomball visiting Shands Gymnasium. The game will mark AC’s final contest before the holiday break; the team will resume action at McLennan College in Waco on Dec. 29 before re-entering league play at home against Tyler College on Jan. 4.

The ‘Runners boast three players averaging double figures in scoring: Kevin Norman leads the team with 19.5 points per game; Deedy Gauno is scoring at a 16.3 ppg clip; and point guard Draylin Brown scores 11.4 ppg while handing out 3.4 assists per contest.

Friday’s game tips off at 7 p.m. at Shands Gymnasium. Fans can view the action via live stream by logging onto angelinaathletics.com.
