Pitchers Lance Lusk and Sean Bergeron each threw complete-games, the Roadrunner bats exploded for 21 runs in two games – giving them 31 in the past three games – and Angelina College capped a three-game series sweep of Paris College with 12-4 and 9-1 wins Saturday at Roadrunner Field in Lufkin.

Bergeron, pitching the nightcap, didn’t allow a base runner until he hit a Dragon in the fourth inning. Bergeron lost his no-hitter in the fifth on a single from the Dragons’ Ryan Kinkade.

Bergeron would allow just two more hits the rest of the way, ending his outing with 11 strikeouts in seven innings.

Dylan Murphy drove in three runs with a three-run homer in the third. Taylor Meaux and Nic Garza drove in two runs each; Meaux’s three RBI in the early game gave him five for the day.

Lusk also kept the Roadrunners from dipping into the bullpen, working his way out of trouble to finish with a seven-inning win in the opener. The Dragons, trailing 6-2 in the fifth – they’d scored two in the third on a pair of solo homers from Matt Solomon and Ryan Tackett – cut into the AC lead with two more runs and threatened more damage after loading the bases. Lusk then bore down and retired the next three hitters, getting two of those outs via strikeout. Lusk finished the game with nine Ks over his seven innings.

AC’s Dillon Nesbitt drove in three runs that included a solo homer. Meaux drove in three runs, and Nic Garza and Sean Bergeron drove in two runs each.

The Roadrunners (21-13, 8-6) will host Tyler College on Monday in non-conference action. The single, nine-inning game starts at 5 p.m. at Roadrunner Field.
