Having already clinched a berth in the upcoming conference tournament, the Angelina College Roadrunners used Tuesday's game against Alvin College as chance to take a look at the state of the bullpen.

The 'Runner bullpen excelled, with Hagan Hartman, Kyle Allen and Jeremy Rodriguez shut down the Dolphins over the final three innings in AC's 5-4 win at the Larry Phillips Family Sports Complex in Lufkin.

Fittingly, Roadrunner sophomores took the stage on Sophomore Day, with Hartman, Allen and Rodriguez tossing shutout innings and Garrett Kochakian – who missed most of the season with an injury – blasting a two-run homer.

Alec Paz, another sophomore, drove in a run with a third-inning single; freshman Taylor Meaux added an RBI double in the same frame. Grant Jackman plated the eventual game winner with a two-out single in the fifth.

The Roadrunners (26-23, 14-14) close out the regular season this weekend with a three-game series in Paris. Game 1 of the series is at 3 p.m. on Friday, and the teams wrap up the series with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.

The Region XIV Conference Tournament opens on Saturday, May 12 at Angelina College.
